|I've decided to offer some of my favorite flint for sale. Many who frequent
the knapins in the Midwest know that for years Kentucky Flintworks was
about the only place to reliably get any Sonora. The vast majority I sold as
slabbed material and seldom offered it by the pound. I bought many
thousands of pounds over a 10 year period and culled it before putting it into
storage. As with my Ky Hornstone, my plan originally was to slab it all. The
reality is that would pretty much be impossible. Actual count today showed
29 plastic 55 gallon barrels full of Sonora. I'm going to offer it by the pound
to my customers until this level is reduced somewhat. I enjoy chipping it so
some must stay. It, like most cherts is becoming increasingly harder to get .
The colors range from deep blue to almost black. It is the highest grade
chert in Kentucky that I'm aware of that occurs in any quantity. I'm offering it
in a mixture of nodules, partial nodules, and spalls. I will expose the flint in
each piece to insure quality. Priced by the pound in flat rate boxes.
|Pricing on the Sonora is only $2.50 per pound. I can easily fit
35lbs in a large USPS flat rate box, or 20lbs in a medium box.
